And that's it....
Mr Trump has struck blow against the establishment.
The billionaire (maybe) convinced the over-looked Americans to win the Presidency. This person who has threatened Mexico, the Federal Reserve Chairwoman and his political opponents will become the President of the United States, Commander-in-Chief of the world’s most powerful armed forces and leader of the world’s largest economy on January 20th 2017.
In case you were wondering, I didn’t vote for Trump. I never thought he would make a good President. His campaign was garbage and appealed to the base fears of the aforementioned over-looked Americans.
I thought that there would be more people in the cities than in the counties to gain a Clinton victory but, alas, the constant attack was too much for her. America said, with a loud voice no, no to her, no to experience and no to progressive policy.
I am disappointed in the result and I’m concerned for my friends and family in America. A while back my mother wrote in an email that, people are acting as they did in the days before civil rights. As Americans wake up today there will be more than a few that think that civil rights for minorities has ended and it’s time for the minorities to get in line. It was starting as Trump’s campaign began but now the floodgates have opened. My own mother was questioned by the police for sitting in her car, waiting for me, during the day, outside of a shop in the suburbs of Chicago. My parents have lived in that town for most of their lives but, who knows what's coming next.
Now Trump has some choices. First, he’s said a lot during the campaign. Will he get a special prosecutor to go after Hillary? Is he going to sue the women who have accused him of sexual assault? How soon will he ban Muslims from entering the country? How soon will he extort money out of Mexico to pay for the wall?
Should he not follow through, soon, with his promises his supporters are going to crucify him. They want instant change and, just like John Boehner, will get rid of him if he is not seen to be going in the right direction.
Internationally, Vladimir Putin is grinning ear to ear and I don’t believe for one minute that President/Prime Minister Putin is looking forward to working constructively with the United States. Trump, as the leader of the country, is going to have to look out for our interests, not keep Russia happy.
Finally, respect is earned, not given. From the conduct of his campaign Mr Trump has not earned my respect. He has earned my disdain. His rhetoric on the campaign trail make me believe he would not treat the office of President with respect. The burden is upon him to convince me otherwise.
